After the two initial screenings of Multiverse .dome in Taiwan (2020) and Mexico (2022), the work found its final form at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin (DE) in 2023, together with a new dome version of Luna Somnium.
The Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin (DE) is a renowned location in the city because of its interdisciplinary approach and innovative use of its dome structure. The planetarium is equipped with state-of-the-art Zeiss projection technology, including a digital dome system capable of presenting high-resolution, 360-degree visuals onto the 23-metre-high dome. In addition to its primary function of presenting astronomical shows and educational content, the Zeiss-Großplanetarium hosts cultural events, exhibitions, and artistic performances. In this setting, Multiverse .dome and Luna Somnium .dome were presented to the German audience.
The planetarium offers a unique opportunity to engage with these works in a way that transcends traditional viewing. By removing the usual barriers between the artwork and the audience, the dome transforms the perception of these installations, providing a fully immersive experience singular to this environment.
Originally designed as an immersive experience, Multiverse reached its final form in this setting, enhancing the perception of reality through its expansive projection. Luna Somnium, previously shown in Rome and Verona, was reimagined for the context of the dome, with the planetarium's curved ceiling serving as the lunar sphere's surface, offering a novel perspective on the work.
