NODE is an international festival for digital arts and live-media designed to give voice to the most innovative international artists exploring the creative potential of the synergy between music, video, sound design and electronic arts. Since 2008, the festival has presented itself as a cultural event characterised by the high quality of its artistic programming, and has always been an indispensable and eagerly awaited moment of reflection on contemporary practices in digital art, as well as a meeting place and exchange for a constantly growing audience of enthusiasts. In spite of this, NODE has always been conceived as an inclusive festival, widespread and intended for all citizens, with more than an eye to the national and international dimension, but also extremely rooted in the city. A significant feature of the festival, especially in the last editions, has been the desire to use little-known places in Modena as locations for the festival, or places returned to the city after long processes of urban regeneration. A choice deriving precisely from the desire to exploit the aggregative and media resonance potential of NODE to enhance and give new life or new uses to buildings that are sometimes neglected or forgotten in the city.

Starting with the eighth edition, held in 2016, fuse* has been actively involved in the organisation of the festival, thus consolidating the relationship started in 2010 when the studio set up the N project in the cloister of Palazzo Santa Margherita, the historic venue of the festival. In the same year, thanks to a new shared vision and the re-organisation of the working team, the format was remodelled as a biennial event with the aim of enhancing the classic programme, characterised by performance events, with the setting up of exhibitions dedicated to the pioneers of sound-art and digital art. A choice dictated by the will and the need to dedicate more time to the production of a festival that edition after edition aims to grow both in terms of quality and quantity.
In spite of the biennialisation, the continuity between the editions is guaranteed by some satellite events realised during the years off, with the presentation of workshops and site-specific projects. These events thus constitute a sort of trait d'union between the editions of the festival, preserving the relationship with the public.

The eleventh edition of the festival will take place from 6 to 9 December 2023.
