ARTIFICIAL BOTANY .MORPHOS III

Artificial Botany .morphos III is the very first installation of Artificial Botany exhibited to the public. Part of the 2021 exhibition "NEO" at CosmoCaixa Museum of Science in Barcelona, the work soon imposed itself as one of our most requested and exhibited pieces. Its adaptability allowed it to be modified for various exhibition contexts, enhancing its appeal and versatility across different setups.

As for the other A/V pieces from the series, Artificial Botany .morphos III puts light on the continuous morphological movements of natural elements, often hidden or overlooked by human eyes. In this ever-changing flow, synthetic shapes flow one into the other, making visible an often overlooked phenomenon. The visuals in this particular series are defined by morphing shapes that fill the entire frame, derived from a starting dataset composed not of traditional botanical illustrations but of photographs of leaves and forests.

Artificial Botany .morphos III aims to convey the creative power of nature, both visually and conceptually. It emphasises the inherent concepts of mutability, transience, and evolution as fundamental aspects of life. Through these dynamic transformations, the series restores and celebrates the ever-changing and evolving essence of the natural world, capturing its beauty and complexity in a unique artistic expression.
