MEDIAgarden is a permanent light installation that extends across the two gardens of CUBO, Unipol’s headquarters in Bologna. Comprising 41 high-luminosity RGB LED columns, it is an integral part of the surrounding architectural landscape, seamlessly blending technology with the surrounding environment.
The installation has been carefully integrated into the outdoor spatial design of CUBO, responding to the complex architectural composition of the site. The columns are arranged in a way that enhances both the natural and built elements of the space, creating a dynamic dialogue between light, structure, and movement. Placed in Piazza Vieira De Mello, the columns form a circular composition that embraces visitors, transforming the square into an immersive, ever-evolving space.
Engineered to operate continuously throughout the year, MEDIAgarden is supported by an advanced technological infrastructure. Each column is individually controlled from the server room via an extensive network of fiber optics, ensuring precise and fluid synchronization. An internal cooling system maintains a stable temperature, while airflows prevent misting on the glass panels, preserving the clarity and vibrancy of the lights in all weather conditions.
In one of the more enclosed sections of the garden, nestled between the two wings of the CUBO buildings, the installation takes on an even more immersive quality. Here, the circular arrangement of columns is complemented by a 360° audio system, heightening the sensory experience and reinforcing the connection between space, light, and sound.
MEDIAgarden is an installation that blends into its surroundings, turning CUBO’s gardens into a dynamic space of light and movement. It evolves with the time of day and the changing seasons, creating an ever-shifting experience for visitors while reinforcing CUBO’s identity as a hub of culture and innovation.
